Why Are We Doing This?

The TRA formed in 2001 to tackle housing and crime problems. Each year we do a little bit more. For example, in 2002 we started the Newsletter and a Community Survey. Next we began fundraising with Bric-a-brac stalls and set up a website. We lobbied for a pedestrian island in Verulam Road, improvements to the Rec and a tidy up for the "Amenity" car park. A Street Improvement Plan and Parking Permit Scheme are underway and a Planning Brief is on the drawing board (more info). Latest of all ... we ’re trying a Family Funday. None of this would have taken place without your support at meetings and events. Our Funday on Saturday 28th is a way of celebrating these successes and putting a little money in the kitty. Please come along and join in the fun!

Is the Triangle Residents Association really for everyone?

Yes! The TRA has an equal opportunities statement in its constitution, guaranteeing everyone a right for equal treatment. But how to put this into practice?

There are a many things a community group or residents association can do to appeal to and involve a wider range of people -for example different ages and ethnic backgrounds. Two committee members have been on a course provided by NHDC to sample creative ideas that have a wider appeal: picnics in the park, properly funded family fun-days, video-soapbox for kids. Bigger associations have successful multi-cultural events with food and music.

Do any of these ideas catch your attention? Do you have a better idea? Email them to the secretary and we will do our best to organise them!

Do you like bossing people around? Able to get a laugh?

If so, then you could help us by chairing a couple of meetings a year. There are usually 20 to 40 people to keep in order. OK, so sometimes a few of us can get quite excited but the meetings are generally positive and you’d be helping to empower local people to talk directly with decision makers from the council, the police and other agencies.

Might suit a young person wanting cv experience. Just 6 hours a year would make a big difference.
Go on, you can’t resist it!! Contact any of the committee or come to a meeting to find out more.

Google Search Added.

The home page now has the Google Search capability added to it. This allows you to search the www.hitchintriangle.org webpages for content or to search the Internet.

The Elephant Has Gone.

You may or may not have noticed that the Easyspace Elephant has gone. This is significant in that we have moved the webpages onto a different server that has more facilities. As mentioned below, this means that we should be able to make the whole website more interactive. Keep your eyes peeled for the changes.

Apologies from the webmaster.

Sorry to all readers that I have not updated these pages for a very very long time.
I am hoping to be able to spend more time on the website now, and also hoping to make the whole website more interactive so that you can contribute directly to the pages.
Keep your eye on these pages for more info!
