I have been asked to write a little on the history of the Triangle. Some of the charm has gone in recent years as many buildings are no longer with us, and more modern buildings that have gone up in their place are not the same and do not fit in. I lived for part of my childhood in Walsworth Road until 1952 when we moved to a new estate in Walsworth. I came back to the Triangle in 1977 where I still live. I can still remember some of the buildings that were once here.
Near the station on Walsworth Road was a Pub called the Railway Inn, I think built around the 1860’s. The Railway Inn was built by W.S. Lucas the Sun Street Brewers. In 1965 the Inn changed its name to “The Talisman” then it changed again to “Jeans”. As Jeans it became a young persons pub and lasted a few years until there was a stabbing outside. Soon after this the Pub closed altogether and was demolished in 1991 to make way for the current office block which stood empty for 2 years.
