Parking: The Votes

As time was running out the issue was moved to a vote to be decided by a show of hands. The first vote was on a simple choice: (a) Do we support a Permit Parking scheme for Dacre Road on its own? or (b) Do we support a scheme for the Triangle as a whole?
(a) 3 votes     (b) 22 votes

The next two votes ware taken on Martin Stears suggestion that any scheme could be introduced on a road by road basis. The first question here was: Do we support a Permit Parking scheme for the whole Triangle to be treated as a single indivisible block?
For: 22     Against: 6

The second question was: Do we support a Permit Parking Scheme for the whole Triangle in which any road passing the council tests is allowed to have one and those failing the test can be left out.
For: 7     Against: 17

Parking: Action

These results were presented to the Hitchin Area Committee by Susan Dye, with many Triangle residents attended to lend their support.

Unfortunately we were informed that NHDC currently have a freeze on all new parking schemes because there will not be any traffic wardens to enforce them. Cllr Richard Thake was recently quoted in Hertfordshire On Sunday as saying, 'The council cannot deliver at this time.'
